CHARACTER
CHARACTER NAME: Katherine
SERIES: The Guardians of Childhood Series
CANON POINT: She's from "Toothiana: Queen of the Tooth Fairy Armies". Her canon point is when she, Ombric, Bunnymund, and North are at the Lamadary, set after their meeting with the Man in the Moon but before she falls out the window and looses a tooth.
LOSS: The compass that North had given to her. While it may seem insignificant to others, it is one of her most treasured possessions. In the past it has allowed her to find North should she ever get lost or her fellow guardians be in danger. It acts a constant comfort to show her that she does have people who care deeply about her. Losing it would mean losing one the only connection she would have to the others in her world since she neither has Kailash or Mr. Qwerty here.
ABOUT THE CHARACTER:
ABILITIES: With the help of Mr. Qwerty (after he becomes a magical book), she is able to convey her stories magically through moving illustrations. She has also learned how to speak multiple languages that allows her to converse with all sorts of animals and insects.

ABOUT THE CHARACTER:
- Among all the children of Santoff Claussen, there is one in particular that is worth taking notice of. Not that the rest aren't mind you. But there is one young girl who, among the lot of them, has the most stories to share.
A baby was once found just outside of Santoff Claussen, discovered by the last Atlantian by the name of Ombric Shalazar. Both her mother and father had died in the forest but both parents had done all they could to protect their precious child to the best to their ability. Ombric took in the child and raised her as his own daughter, teaching her as he taught the other children in the village. This foundling child excelled in what she learned and showed her enthusiasm in reading books as well as telling stories. Out of all the other children in Santoff Claussen she could speak the most languages to communicate with the living creatures of their home. She was second only to Ombric in this knowledge.
There was no shortage of friends for her to make what with a village filled with families. There are children older than her and younger than her. All of them, despite their occasional squabbles as all children do, were good, good friends. And for Katherine, they were more than just friends., In a way, they were like an extension of her family. Ombric had raised her on his own but the other kids of Santoff Claussen could be considered as the siblings she never had. They were her playmates as she grew up under the wizard's care. And as more children were born she discovered her love of telling the younger ones stories. She was always passionate about them, taking great care to paint them all a picture with her words, before eventually learning to draw as well. Between her tales and her illustrations, she had a knack for keeping children entertained. Her imagination is her greatest strength.
Katherine is a passionate, enthusiastic girl, who shows signs of being far more grown-up than her actual age. She feels responsible for helping to protect Santoff Claussen, especially after she finds herself in the middle of the war against the Nightmare King. While she is the youngest amongst her fellow Guardians she proves to be a valuable ally with her clever mind and bravery. Even when the odds were against her she still manages to shine through to help protect those she holds dear. Her closest, dearest friend is Nightlight, and the pair have proven to be a powerful team when they work together. She trusts the Guardians, the Man in the Moon, and Nightlight with her life and in turn would do anything for them. Whether it is trying to hold off the Nightmare King while trying to find a way to save Ombric and North, or stopping her fellow Guardians from killing Pitch when they come to rescue her, after learning that there could still be a way to save the forgotten hero. For someone as young as her, she continues to show compassion and intelligence that leaves her standing out amongst all the children of Santoff Claussen.
But, there is one thing she has always wanted but it was not something that Ombric or North or the people of Santoff Claussen could ever give to her. As strong as she is and as big as her heart is, there is that one ache in her heart that could easily be exploited should anyone be able to get their hands on her heart. Despite the family she has now, Katherine has forever longed to know her real parents. The foundling child has no memories of either her mother and father. It is a type of loneliness that she hides well but the fact remains that she is always seeking out the means of learning about them. That is her deepest, strongest desire. And it is one that Pitch has threatened to use and make her his replacement daughter, a Princess of Nightmares.
ABILITIES: With the help of Mr. Qwerty (after he becomes a magical book), she is able to convey her stories magically through moving illustrations. She has also learned how to speak multiple languages that allows her to converse with all sorts of animals and insects.
THIRD-PERSON WRITING SAMPLE:
- The gentle rhythm of her breathing was soothing for Katherine to feel, her back resting against the side of the sleeping Kailash. She tilted her head back so that the goose's feathers made for a comfortable pillow. It made her smile as she looked over to watch her feathered friend sleep soundlessly.
On her lap was an opened book --Mr. Qwerty to be precise-- and the pair of them resting beneath the night sky, not far from Big Root. Katherine has been restless and couldn't sleep inside that night. Her mind had too many thoughts racing circles around one another. The constant threat of Pitch and his Fearlings were always on her mind, as was the locket she had tucked away safely in her room. The locket containing the picture of a young girl-- a girl that Katherine had assumed to be the daughter of Pitch. With all that had been happening it was any wonder she could even get a proper's night rest in the past.
So, instead of spending her night tossing and turning, she favored a more practical way to spend her time.
There was a chill in the air. A breeze ruffling her hair where if drapped over her shoulders. She shivered some and tugged the blanket wrapped around her close, her gaze shifting from the goose to the sky above. There were a few clouds dotting the sky but she was still able to see the moon shine down upon the world. While she could not see from where she sat she knew that the Man in the Moon was there, watching over all of them. With her hand holding the page down to mark her place she smiled to herself as she watched the evening sky for a moment longer.
But suddenly, in the blink of an eye, her view of the moon was blocked. While it caught her off guard for a split second, the surprised look on her face was replaced with the biggest, warmest smile as she recognized the upside down face beaming at her.
"Nightlight!" Katherine sat up straight right after closing the bookworm and setting him to the side.
